Making apparent the value of Internet of Things (IoT) methods and technologies is critical to support the UK’s Industrial Strategy.
The Pitch-In project (2018–2021) aimed to collaboratively identify and address barriers to the successful development, introduction and further exploitation of Internet of Things technologies across four key sectors, cities, energy, health and wellbeing and manufacturing, whilst also overcoming the social and organisational barriers related to managing the introduction of IoT.
Although the project funding has now come to an end, this website continues to provide a wealth of information and resources relating to completed IoT projects and their proposed next steps.

Pitch-In has helped demonstrate the huge potential Sheffield City Region has to create a leading smart city region.
This project was pivotal to understanding how the IoT ecosystem could help businesses that specialise in IoT and innovation to flourish and expand across the North East.

The project produced a detailed report of the current skills deficit around IoT and related Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies, as well as an analysis of what skills will be required in the workplace of 2030.
This project will provide trial versions of the Elements Platform (a simple plug and play IoT platform for SME manufacturers) to manufacturers and monitor the subsequent adoption rate of the full Elements Platform.
